What airport do I fly into?

If you are flying in from out of town, you can fly into the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). This airport is ~20 minutes from downtown Raleigh hotels. The hotels sometimes provide shuttle service, so you will have to call the hotels and ask; otherwise it is a quick uber to downtown Raleigh.

Should I rent a car?

Totally up to you, if you'd like you can rent a car directly from RDU. Just keep in mind, downtown Raleigh is street parking on the weekends and is typically tough to find parking, otherwise the hotels have valet parking with valet parking fees. You can uber everywhere which is not a problem, but all events will have alcohol and we do not want anyone to drink and drive.

Where to stay?

We have included in the 'Hotel' section where to stay hotel wise. Again, you do not have to stay at those two options but we highly recommend it. It is within walking distance to the welcome party and only ~20 minutes to the wedding venue. They are nice hotels, and downtown Raleigh has super markets, restaurants, free museums (butterfly garden is cool), and anything a major city has.

What will the weather be like in North Carolina in September?

North Carolina has lovely weather but it changes widely. It is humid here which is different from most places so sweating is real, bring lots of deodorant. Typically in the morning time and night time it is cool and around 70 degrees F. During the day in September it gets hot around 85 degrees F+, and then take into the heat index because of the humidity.

Transportation will not be provided to the welcome party nor will it be provided to the wedding venue. The Welcome Party is downtown Raleigh and this is where we suggest everyone stays in a hotel at so this should not be an issue. The Donovan Manor (Wedding Venue) is about a ~20 - 25 minute drive from downtown Raleigh. If you are driving there you can park there. If you are ubering just take into traffic, distance, and uber availability of getting there and getting back (which shouldn't be an issue).

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The Welcome Party is at a rooftop bar which is all indoors with AC except an outdoor terrace overlooking all of downtown Raleigh (its beautiful). The Wedding ceremony is outdoors in their garden, and then events following that will be indoors in the venue on the same property. We will provide fans for guests to use during the ceremony outside. We ask no umbrellas or other obstructions be used during the ceremony.

What time should I arrive?

The welcome party is from 6 PM - 8 PM EST, we recommend arriving right at 6 PM to take advantage of the light food and drink tab we will have open. PLEASE show up at 4:00 PM EST, if you show up after 4:20 PM EST, you may not be able to sit down as the ceremony will begin. We also ask you to check for traffic, uber availability, and other considerations when you head there, as it is a single road that does backup easily.
